Microbubbles as Proxies for Oil Spill Delineation in Field Tests

نویسندگان

چکیده

To overcome the environmental impacts of releasing oil into ocean for testing acoustic methods in field experiments using autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), environmentally friendly gas bubble plumes with low rise velocities are proposed this research to be used as proxies oil. An experiment was conducted test performance a centrifugal-type microbubble generator generating and their practicability experiments. Sizes bubbles were measured Laser In-Situ Scattering Transmissometry sensor. Residence time estimated by Ping360 sonar. Results from showed that larger number small found deeper water rose quickly surface without staying column. The residence generated at depth 0.5 m over 5 min. is planned applied future experiments, it effective producing relatively long-endurance can potential trials AUVs delineating spills.

Field evaluations of marine oil spill bioremediation.

Bioremediation is defined as the act of adding or improving the availability of materials (e.g., nutrients, microorganisms, or oxygen) to contaminated environments to cause an acceleration of natural biodegradative processes. The results of field experiments and trials following actual spill incidents have been reviewed to evaluate the feasibility of this approach as a treatment for oil contami...

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

Characterizing Biochar as Alternative Sorbent for Oil Spill Remediation

Biochar (BC) was characterized as a new carbonaceous material for the adsorption of toluene from water. The tested BC was produced from pine wood gasification, and its sorption ability was compared with that of more common carbonaceous materials such as activated carbon (AC). Both materials were characterized in terms of textural features and sorption abilities by kinetic and equilibrium tests....

Bioremediation of Oil Spill

At present, petroleum hydrocarbon is one of the most serious Abstract: environmental problem. Oil spill occurring accidently in the ocean during transportation or other working places like refineries causes great threat to the flora and fauna existing nearby. Modern methods of remediation such as incineration, land filling, burning, etc. are expensive as well as their byproducts produced are of...

Exxon Valdez Oil Spill

Pristane (2,6,10,14-tetramethylpentadecane) concentrations in mussels (Mytilus trossulus) increase abruptly during spring in Prince William Sound (PWS), Alaska. This increase is mainly due to ingestion by mussels of pristane-laden feces produced by near-shore zooplanktivores, especially juvenile pink salmon (Oncorhynchus gorbuscha). Examination of the trophic and temporal distribution of prista...
